Discover The Willpower Of Being Disciplined

Going after your dreams takes self discipline, self discipline keeps the momentum of motivation alive.

MOTIVATION / DISCIPLINE / AUTHENTICITY

What do these words mean to you? Do you believe that being authentic to yourself and having discipline creates your motivation, so you can achieve what you desire?

A lot of motivational speakers would say motivation is temporary, it takes discipline to accomplish your goals. Motivation will wear off after a short period of time, while discipline will be the driving force that keeps you going.

Our world thrives on motivation. People pay a lot of money to be motivated through: coaching, mentors, seminars, trainers, and the list goes on.

Self-discipline will help you in the long run. It is about setting your standards high and making them a core value. This is the fuel that will keep you going and drive your commitment towards achieving your goals. That’s why self discipline is stronger than motivation.

The question you may be asking yourself is, How do I become self disciplined?

To become self disciplined you will need to create new habits.

Everyone will fail at something, at some point. If you never fail, are you really growing? At the end of the day, failure will help you figure out what path you want to be on.
Fall Forward.

I will be straight up honest with you. It took me about 45 minutes to stop fidgeting and procrastinating to write this blog. I kept distracting myself by looking at my phone, burning some palo santo, putting lotion on, and finishing the last of my now cold coffee, that I like to drink in my blue ceramic mug. That being said, we all need some type of motivation and discipline to get us going. I am telling you this because I am only human and I am constantly creating habits in my life to stay disciplined. It’s showing up for myself even when it’s challenging that matters.

I am a big fan of motivational speakers. These are a few of my favorites, that I have discovered through the years.

Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Motivational Quotes

01
“Success without fulfillment is the ultimate failure. Success is getting what you want, fulfillment is living what you are made for. Progress equals happiness. If you keep growing you are going to feel alive and if you keep growing you are going to have more to give. One thing that is for sure about life is: Everything changes and everything ends.”
- Tony Robbins

“Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could be any different. You may think forgiving means accepting what has happened to you. Well, it is accepting that it has happened to you. Not accepting that it was ok for it to happen. She also speaks a lot about the power of gratitude. She says: Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never ever have enough.”
- Oprah Winfrey

“No matter how stuck or lost you feel, you are always one decision away from a completely different life. Give yourself a chance, try things. To get what you have never had, you must be willing to do what you’ve never done. When the world collapses around you, you have an opportunity. Not to mourn the old, but to build again, this time better than before.”
- Eddie Pinero

“I realized that somewhere in my Dad’s life something fucked him up. And he didn’t deal with it. So, he put that shit on me, my Mom, and everybody around him. I want to deal with my shit. So, even though he gave me all this shit I didn’t deserve and I’m all fucked up because of what he created. I want to fix it and work on my shit. YOU ARE ONLY GONNA FIND PEACE BY GOING TO WAR WITH YOURSELF. “
- David Goggins

You can find motivational speakers on podcasts, youtube, and other platforms. If you have never listened to motivational speakers before, I highly recommend you try it. It’s powerful stuff, that can change your life. A few other people you could look into are Les Brown, Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, Dave Ramsey, Joe Rogan, Mel Robbins, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Wayne Dyer, Zig Ziglar, and Jay Shetty. There are a  lot more to name, but this is a great start.

I realized through these great speakers that you are in control of your life. It’s your story, how do you want it to be? If you want something bad enough you will do everything in your power to make it happen.

Motivation and discipline go together to move you forward towards your goals, but discipline will take you farther than motivation. Motivation will ware off, disciplined habits will stay the course for the long game.

You have to put in the work before the work will set you free.

Gratitude is the key to happiness and abundance, being grateful for everything around you brings positive emotions into your life.

Forgiveness will set your soul free, this doesn’t mean forgetting, it means you are no longer trapped. I read this quote and it said, “Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die”. How many of us have done that? It was torture, wasn’t it?

You can be free, if you forgive.

Growth is the best progress one can do for themselves. If you are not growing and changing, then you are staying the same and stuck.

I’m choosing to grow and evolve everyday, this is one of my life missions. Taking control of my life and creating the future I envision for myself is so empowering. You can do the same! It starts with making a choice to choose you, making yourself a priority. Before I made this choice. I had an unhealthy relationship with myself, alcohol, and food. I didn’t love myself, I did’t truly know myself. I had unhealthy relationships with partners. I am grateful for those connections and the lessons those relationships taught me. It wasn’t easy healing some of my core wounds that came to the surface in those relationships, but it was necessary for me to heal, so I could become the person I am today.

I hope when you look in the mirror, you love the person you see. You are worthy of the life you dream of. You are enough!

When you get the chance, listen to some of these speakers pour their hearts out to you, see what comes up as you intentionally listen.

We all have a story and have a choice to change it at any time. We all have had trauma of some sort. It’s up to us how we want to channel it.

Sending you so much love and light.
